DC

Clayface is a shapeshifting villain primarily associated with Batman in DC Comics. The character has had multiple iterations, each with a different origin and powerset, but all sharing the ability to alter their physical form.

The original Clayface, Basil Karlo, first appeared in Detective Comics #40 (June 1940). Karlo was an actor who, enraged at a remake of a classic horror film he starred in, adopted the persona of its villain, Clayface, and began murdering the cast.

Later versions gained actual shapeshifting abilities through various means, becoming monstrous, clay-like beings. These versions, often exceeding Karlo in power and threat level, can mimic appearances, create weapons, and possess immense strength.
